GOLDCAR Car Rental at Fuerteventura Airport

Fuerteventura Airport serves the Canary Island of Fuerteventura, and is located on the island's eastern coastline at El Matorral. It is an airport know by its official code of FUE, and handles over four million passengers per annum. The airport is also well equipped with all the essential facilities required by its arriving and departing passengers, and is easily accessed by the FV-2 motorway. Although buses and taxis provide transport to several locations on the island, many passengers rent a car, from one of the Fuerteventura Airport car hire companies, such as Goldcar. The car hire companies are located in the arrival area of Fuerteventura Airport, just after the baggage reclaim area, and on the ground floor of the single terminal building. Although a short distance from the airport, passengers will easily be able to reach Goldcar via their free shuttle services, which are available throughout their opening hours of 07:30 to 22:30. The Goldcar representative will then escort the customers to the Goldcar courtesy bus. The rented car should also be returned to the Goldcar office location and not to the airport, and the buses will provide transport back to the terminal.

From the Goldcar rental location, customers will easily be able to reach all areas of the island. The FV-1 motorways heads slightly north to the capital city of Fuerteventura, Puerto del Rosario, and south, to areas such as Caleta de Fuste, Las Salinas, La Lajita and Morro Jable, all of which are popular destinations for tourists, and boast some lovely beaches. Past the capital city, and to the north, the FV-1 motorway heads towards areas such as Corralejo and La Oliva, which was once the island's capital. All areas of the island can be accessed within an hour’s drive.

Drivers from foreign countries must have an International Driving Permit, as this document is required by law, if not by Goldcar. All drivers must present a valid local license for collection of their vehicle from Goldcar Fuerteventura Airport, and be present in person at the rental counters. Most local licenses are accepted, provided that they are written in a Roman alphabet. However, customers from Greece often do not need to have an IDP for their car rentals. Customers from the United Kingdom should have both parts of their drivers license on hand. The minimum age to rent a car from Goldcar is 21, but all drivers under the age of 25 will pay an extra rate for young drivers insurance, and may also not be permitted to hire from all car categories. This is a standard procedure at most major car rental companies.

Fuerteventura Airport car rental companies often allow one way hires, and hire equipment such as baby seats, satellite navigation systems, luggage racks and hand controls for disabled drivers. A one way hire is especially useful for customers who will not be returning to the airport, and who would prefer to deliver the vehicle to another Goldcar rental location. Fuerteventura Airport one way hires from Goldcar may be taken on ferries to other Canary Islands, but additional insurance will be required. The service of a one way hire will cost a few extra Euros if the rental period is less than seven days, but is free of charge if it is for seven days or more. The Ford C-Max, Seat Altea and Peugeot 5008 also have a large capacity for luggage.
